1st portable console in the world with AMD Strix Point CPU has a surreal price

By Aayush

One-Netbook has revealed the pricing for its new ONEXFLY F1 Pro, the first handheld console featuring an AMD Strix Point CPU. The pricing is striking, with the entry-level model starting at a “promotional” pre-sale price of $1,099, while the high-end version is priced at $1,699.

The ONEXFLY F1 Pro offers multiple configurations to cater to different needs. An AMD Ryzen powers the base model AI 9 365 CPU with 32 GB of LPDDR5X-7200 RAM and 1 TB of storage. The high-end variant uses an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor, 64 GB of RAM, and a massive 4 TB of storage.

Designed with premium materials, the ONEXFLY F1 Pro features a 7-inch OLED display with a 1080p resolution and a smooth 144 Hz refresh rate. It’s equipped with a 48.5 Wh battery, on par with the Lenovo Legion GO and slightly better than the ASUS ROG Ally from 2023.

Regarding connectivity, the console is packed with options: it includes two USB 4.0 ports, a USB-A 3.0 port, and a microSD card slot. The device also has RGB lighting around the sides and analog sticks, giving it a distinct “gamer” aesthetic.

Although the price is higher for a handheld console, the ONEXFLY F1 Pro is poised to be one of the most advanced models in the market. It will be interesting to see if it gains traction among consumers, similar to ASUS, MSI, and Lenovo devices.

Remember that the listed prices are for pre-sale, and the retail price may increase once it hits stores.

The competitive portable console market

While the ONEXFLY F1 Pro boasts top-tier components and a sleek, premium design, one aspect could spark some debate: the battery life. Despite the AMD Ryzen AI 300 series processors being optimized for energy efficiency, the device doesn’t appear to offer a significant improvement over other handheld consoles released in 2023 and 2024.

A common gripe among users of popular devices like the ASUS ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion GO is the relatively short gaming sessions they allow. On average, these consoles offer around two hours of playtime per charge, depending on the game and performance settings. The ONEXFLY F1 Pro, with its 48.5 Wh battery, seems to follow a similar pattern, potentially limiting gaming duration for those seeking longer, uninterrupted play.
