In a surprising turn of events, details of Intel’s forthcoming Core Ultra 300 series processors, codenamed Panther Lake, have been leaked just days after the launch of the Core Ultra 200 Lunar Lake CPUs. This leak provides a tantalizing glimpse into the future of Intel’s notebook processor lineup.
The information comes from Jaykihn, a well-known insider with a reputation for accurate hardware leaks. On Friday, Jaykihn shared technical specifications for five Panther Lake processor models on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
According to the leak, these new processors are slated for release in approximately a year and will be manufactured using Intel’s advanced 1.8nm 18A lithography process. The lineup includes:
Entry-Level Models (25W TDP)
Two models featuring:
- 4 performance cores
- 8 efficiency cores
- 4 ultra-high-efficiency cores
- Differentiated by iGPU specs:
- One model with 4 graphics cores
- Another with 12 graphics cores
- A third entry-level model with unspecified core configuration
Mid-Range and High-End Models
- 28W TDP model (Mid-range)
- 45W TDP model (High-end)
Both featuring:
- 6 performance cores
- 8 efficiency cores
- 4 very high-efficiency cores
Interestingly, the leak suggests that the highest TDP model will only have 4 Xe graphics cores, while the mid-range 28W model is set to include 12 graphics cores.
Jaykihn notes that these processors are still in the early prototyping stage, indicating that specifications may change before the final release. This early leak provides insight into Intel’s direction for its next-generation mobile processors but should be taken cautiously.
As Intel continues to push the boundaries of mobile computing performance, the Panther Lake series promises to bring significant advancements to the notebook market. With its mix of high-performance, efficiency, and ultra-high-efficiency cores, Intel seems poised to offer various options for various computing needs.
Industry analysts and tech enthusiasts will eagerly await official confirmation and further details from Intel regarding these exciting new processors.
More than twice the cores and 2x the performance
If these specifications are accurate, Intel’s upcoming Panther Lake could represent a major performance boost over the recently released Lunar Lake processors.
One key indicator of this is the Core Ultra 300, which is expected to feature more than twice the number of cores as the current generation. The models unveiled earlier this week are capped at 8 cores (4 performance and 4 efficiency), while future models could boast up to 18 cores.
Should this become reality, Panther Lake is anticipated to offer at least double the processing power of its predecessors.
When will Intel Panther Lake be released?
Intel is currently focused on the release of Lunar Lake and has yet to discuss Panther Lake publicly. There’s also no speculation or rumors suggesting a specific launch date for the next-generation processors.
What is being speculated, however, is that these processors will likely be designed for notebooks, with a confirmed release set for 2025 — most likely in the latter half of the year.
