After much speculation, AMD has officially announced the reveal date for the Radeon RX 9000 series—mark your calendars for February 28 at 8 AM EST. In its official announcement, AMD also reaffirmed that sales will begin in early March, aligning with previous statements from the company.
While AMD has not yet disclosed the full lineup, leaks suggest that the RX 9070 XT will be the flagship model, reportedly featuring 16GB of video memory. However, a recent rumor claimed that a 32GB variant was in the works—a claim that AMD has now publicly denied.
Frank Azor, AMD’s Head of Gaming Marketing, shut down the speculation in response to a tweet from Videocardz, which had reported on the supposed 32GB model. “No, the 9070 XT is not coming with 32GB,” Azor stated.
With the official reveal just around the corner, all eyes are on AMD to see how the RX 9000 series will stack up against its competition.
What can you expect from Radeon RX 9070 XT?
Among AMD’s upcoming RDNA 4 GPUs, the Radeon RX 9070 XT has generated the most buzz. According to AMD, this high-end graphics card will compete with the RTX 4070 Ti and RX 7900 XT, positioning it as a likely rival to NVIDIA’s upcoming RTX 5070.
Although AMD did not unveil RDNA 4 GPUs at CES 2025, some live demonstrations were available at its booth. One notable showcase featured the RX 9070 XT running Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 at nearly 100 FPS in 4K—without any upscaling.
Leaked benchmarks suggest that in Cyberpunk 2077, the RX 9070 XT matches the performance of the RTX 4070 Ti Super across multiple resolutions. Additionally, it reportedly comes close to the RTX 4080 Super in both Cyberpunk 2077 and Black Myth: Wukong, whether at 1080p, 1440p, or 4K.
If these rumors hold true, the RX 9070 XT could surpass expectations and possibly outperform the RTX 5070 Ti. With AMD’s official reveal set for February 28, we’ll soon find out just how powerful this GPU really is.
