At Computex 2024, the Ryzen 9000 processors were showcased as the world’s most powerful CPUs, with a planned release date of July 31. However, AMD has announced a delay in the launch due to “quality issues.”
In a statement, AMD revealed that the initial batches of Ryzen 9000 processors “did not fully meet our quality expectations.” While the specific issues or the number of affected units haven’t been detailed, the company has decided to delay the launch “out of an abundance of caution.”
The following steps involve replacing the problematic parts from these early batches with new ones. Sales will begin worldwide once this process is complete.
What is the new Ryzen 9000 release date?
AMD is changing when it will sell its new computer chips. This is because of some problems they found.
Two types of chips, the Ryzen 7 9700X and Ryzen 5 9600X, will now be sold starting August 8. The more robust chips, called Ryzen 9 9900X and Ryzen 9 9950X, will be in stores starting on August 15.
AMD is being careful because of what happened to Intel, another big computer chip maker. Since 2023, Intel has had big problems with its chips not working well. Many people complained about this. Intel still doesn’t know exactly why this is happening.
AMD saw these problems and doesn’t want the same to happen to its chips. That’s why they’re taking more time to check everything before selling the new chips.
This way, AMD hopes to make sure its new chips work well when people buy them.
What do we know about the Ryzen 9000?
Based on the Zen 5 microarchitecture, the new AMD Ryzen 9000 desktop processors will deliver a performance leap of up to 16% in instructions per cycle (IPC) over the previous generation.

The gains are significant and highly relevant, especially compared to the Blue Team’s rivals. Recently leaked benchmarks indicate that the Ryzen 9 9950X beats the Core i9-14900K in performance and energy efficiency by a certain margin.
