Android 15 is getting closer to its official release. Google has just released the 4th Beta version of the operating system for compatible Pixel devices on Wednesday (18). According to the developer schedule, this will be the final Beta before the stable version, which is expected to launch in August.
Android 15 Beta 4 doesn’t introduce any new features but allows developers to publish apps that are adapted for the new system. With Android 15 entering the platform stabilization phase in June, most APIs and system components are now ready.
Initially, the latest Beta version is only compatible with the following models in the Google Pixel line:
- Pixel 6
- Pixel 6 Pro
- Pixel 6a
- Pixel 7
- Pixel 7 Pro
- Pixel 7a
- Pixel Fold
- Pixel Tablet
- Pixel 8
- Pixel 8 Pro
- Pixel 8a
When will Android 15 be released?
While there isn’t a confirmed launch date for Android 15 yet, it’s highly likely to be announced on August 13, coinciding with Google’s event for the new Pixel 9 lineup. The event is expected to unveil the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, a new Pixel 9 Pro XL, and the foldable Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
Last year, Android 14’s stable version was released on the same day as the Pixel 8 reveal in October, so Google might follow a similar pattern in 2024. Initially, the new Android version will be available on Google devices, with updates for other brands rolling out over the following months.
In the meantime, you can explore what’s expected in the new version of the Android operating system.
