According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the next version of Siri with generative AI capabilities is expected to be available on Apple devices by March 2025. This much-anticipated update will allow Siri to understand on-screen content and perform tasks across different apps, making it one of the most awaited features in Apple’s upcoming Apple Intelligence AI package.
Apple has confirmed that it won’t release all AI updates at once. iOS 18.1, expected in October 2024, will introduce call summaries and a writing assistant. By the end of the year, Image Playground (an image generator), Genmoji (for creating AI emojis), and ChatGPT integration are slated to arrive.
While Siri’s generative AI update was originally expected for 2025, Gurman notes it won’t be released until after March for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.
Gurman suggests the following timeline for iOS 18 updates:
- October 2024: iOS 18.1 introduces the text assistant and call summaries.
- December 2024: iOS 18.2 brings ChatGPT, Genmoji, and Image Playground.
- January 2025: iOS 18.3 focuses on bug fixes.
- March 2025: iOS 18.4 introduces the new Siri with generative AI.
While Apple does not officially confirm this timeline, it aligns with the company’s usual approach to releasing updates for iPadOS and macOS alongside iOS.
Apple Intelligence will speak Multiple Language in 2025
The giant has confirmed the launch of a multiple-language Apple Intelligence in 2025. Initially, the AI tools will be launched only in English, but the company’s support page reveals support for eight other languages next year, in addition to more variations of the English language.
