Assassin’s Creed Shadows PC Requirements

Ubisoft has officially revealed the system requirements for running Assassin’s Creed Shadows on PC, preparing fans for its launch on March 20, 2025. The company shared a variety of configurations, ensuring that players with different setups can enjoy the new adventure set in Japan.

One of the key highlights is the range of available settings, making the game accessible to a broader audience. Unlike some recent major releases, having a high-end gaming PC isn’t necessary to play Assassin’s Creed Shadows, although higher-end systems will naturally deliver the best visual experience.

Ubisoft also detailed the technologies compatible with the game, demonstrating robust support for various PC setups. Notably, the game has been optimized for portable gaming consoles, ensuring a smooth experience even on these devices. This flexibility underscores Ubisoft’s commitment to making Assassin’s Creed Shadows widely accessible to fans across different platforms.

Requirements to run Assassin’s Creed Shadows

To run Assassin’s Creed Shadows on PC at minimum settings, you’ll need an Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 processor paired with one of the following GPUs: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070, AMD Radeon RX 5700, or Intel Arc A580. These requirements are relatively modest compared to other recent major releases.

However, things get a bit more complicated with Ubisoft’s unusual categorization of ray tracing settings into three tiers: selective, standard, and extended. While this adds flexibility for different setups, there’s some missing information. For instance, Ubisoft hasn’t disclosed the total storage space required for the game other than to confirm that an SSD is essential.

One interesting detail is the difference in VRAM requirements between GPU brands. Starting from the “recommended” settings, AMD and Intel graphics cards need more VRAM compared to NVIDIA models. This disparity has been a longstanding criticism, as NVIDIA GPUs tend to operate efficiently with less VRAM. For example, the upcoming RTX 5080 will feature 16 GB of VRAM, while the current flagship RTX 4090 offers 24 GB.

To achieve a standardized ray tracing experience in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Ubisoft recommends at least an AMD Ryzen 5 3600X or Intel Core i7-8700K processor paired with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 or AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT GPU.

However, when playing at 1440p resolution, the requirements jump considerably. For this resolution, you’ll need an Intel Core i5-11600K or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X CPU, along with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Super, AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT, or the new Intel Arc B580 GPU.

A complete experience with Assassin’s Creed Shadows

For those aiming to play Assassin’s Creed Shadows at maximum settings on Ultra, at a minimum, you’ll need an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 GPU. However, to truly experience Ubisoft’s vision for the game, the RTX 4090 is the recommended choice.

While the processor requirements aren’t as demanding as the latest generation (especially with the new Ryzen 9000X3D now available), they are still relatively high. As a result, many players may need to upgrade their systems to meet the demands of this upcoming release.

Upscaling and other technologies

An important detail regarding all the configurations shared by Ubisoft is that the performance levels presented will only be achievable when combined with features like dynamic resolution and GPU upscaling. Without these technologies, performance may fall short of what is outlined in the official requirements.

To enhance the gaming experience, Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will support a variety of advanced technologies. These include Global Illumination and Reflections, an in-game benchmark tool, Ultra-Wide monitor support, HDR, and various customization options.

The game will also support Intel XeSS 2, NVIDIA DLSS 3.7, and AMD FSR 3.1. Although no details about DLSS 4 or FSR 4 have been shared, these could be added in future updates once compatible GPUs are more widely available.

One of the most exciting aspects is that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will run on a wide range of PCs and portable consoles like the Steam Deck, ASUS ROG Ally, and Lenovo Legion GO.
