After a long wait, we finally have news about the new Build 26120.1252 for the Dev channel. This build brings many new features from the development of Windows 11 that Dev channel users will love. Let’s take a look at what it offers.
Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel will now receive updates based on Windows 11, version 24H2, through an enablement package (Build 26120.xxxx). Users in the development channel who want to get new features first can turn on the toggle (shown in the image below) via Settings > Windows Update.
This will enable them to receive the latest updates as soon as they are available. Over time, feature rollouts will increase for those who have this option turned on. If you keep it turned off, new features will gradually roll out to your device once they are ready.

Changes and improvements that are gradually introduced in the development channel with the option activated
General
- They’re starting to re-enable a set of new features that began rolling out on June 28 but were paused on June 30. These features will be enabled for a small percentage of users at first, so not all Dev Channel Insiders with this option enabled will see them immediately. Additionally, some features may appear while others might not.
Start Menu
- You can now pin apps from the Start menu to the taskbar by dragging and dropping items directly onto the taskbar from the pinned section of the Start menu.
File Explorer
- Drag and drop functionality between breadcrumbs is now available in the File Explorer address bar.
Lock Screen
- They’re beginning to roll out new lock screen features in this Dev Channel build. Stay informed and efficient with dynamic updates bringing finance, traffic, sports, and weather information to your lock screen.
- The card design has been improved with acrylic blur, optimized card size, spacing, and fonts. To enable this feature, go to Settings > Personalization > Lock Screen. For more details, see Customize the Lock Screen.
Widgets
- We’re also making some improvements to the Taskbar Widgets button to make taskbar icons more transparent, and we’re also rolling out a broader set of animated icons.
Fixes are gradually being pushed to the dev channel with the switch on
File Browser
- Fixed an issue that could cause explorer.exe to crash when navigating away from the start page.
Entrance
- Fixed an issue where going through Windows Setup (OOBE) would unexpectedly cause Pinyin to appear twice in the list of available input methods.
Others
- Fixed an underlying issue believed to be causing Insiders to see error 0x80370106 when attempting to launch Windows Sandbox after recent flights.
- Fixed an issue where the preferred audio volume (in Settings > System > Sound > Volume Mixer) for Microsoft Edge would not persist across app restarts.
Fixes for everyone in the Dev Channel
General
- Fixed an issue where some Insiders saw a check with the KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE error in recent flights.
- Fixed an issue believed to be the underlying cause of some Insiders recently noticing stuttering in some animations (frame drops), particularly with Task View.
Entrance
- Fixed an issue that caused a cyclical hang on previous flight entry for a few registered users, affecting several entry experiences.
- Fixed an issue where the Input Method Editor (IME) candidate list might not be displayed or in the wrong position.
- Fixed an issue where registered users saw errors when using voice typing in certain languages, such as Chinese.
Taskbar and system tray
- Updated the flashing app icon in the taskbar to be easier to see.
Settings
- Fixed an issue where Settings > System > Power & Battery unexpectedly had duplicate text when displaying a warning about a slow charger.
- Fixed an issue where Insiders would see errors when using voice typing with specific languages, such as Chinese.
Others
- This update updates certain mobile operators’ Country and Operator Configuration Asset (COSA) profiles.
- Fixed the underlying issue that caused some Insiders to see a Pcasvc.dll error dialog pop-up with the message “Missing entry: PcaWallpaperAppDetect” after upgrading from Windows 11, version 22H2/23H2 to build 26xxx.
Known issues
General
- (IMPORTANT ) Windows Insiders who join the Dev Channel on PCs running Windows 11, version 24H2 Build 26100.xxxx will see “(Fix build)” next to the latest Dev Channel build on Windows Update. This is nothing to worry about, as all it means is that an in-place update will occur to update their PC to the latest build in the Dev Channel.
- (NEW) There is an issue in this build where the Windows Update page in Settings is not displaying correctly for Insiders using certain languages (no text appears). If you are affected by this, the update when the next flight leaves should still happen on its own, however you may have to wait a bit.
- (NEW) Adding additional languages or optional features may fail with error 0x800f081f.
Task Manager
- Navigating between different pages in Task Manager may crash Task Manager.
