BYD continues to solidify its position as a global leader in the automotive industry. The Chinese automaker announced on Monday (December 2) that it sold over 500,000 cars worldwide in November 2024, setting a new record in its history.
Between November 1 and 30, BYD sold 506,804 vehicles, marking a 67.9% increase compared to November 2023 and a 0.8% rise over October 2024. This impressive growth was largely driven by the strong performance of hybrid passenger cars, with 305,938 units sold, a staggering 133.1% increase year-over-year.
Sales of fully electric vehicles also saw substantial growth, reaching 198,065 units—a 16.4% increase compared to November 2023 and a 4.4% rise from the previous month.
BYD’s success includes plans to expand in markets like Brazil, where upcoming models such as the Song Plus AWD and Sealion 7 have already been announced.
BYD exceeds the forecast for the year
BYD’s global sales continue to highlight its rapid expansion beyond China. In November 2024, the automaker sold 30,977 passenger cars outside its home market, marking a 1.1% increase compared to the same period in 2023. This growth has helped BYD surpass its 2024 sales target of 3.6 million vehicles a month ahead of schedule, with a total of 3,740,930 units sold as of November 30.
With one month remaining in the year, the question arises: could BYD hit the 4 million mark in 2024?
The brand’s performance in Brazil is particularly noteworthy, having tripled its sales in 2024 by October, with over 50,000 cars delivered in the country. BYD’s continued momentum solidifies its position among the world’s top automakers.
