A new rumor suggests that Far Cry 7 will be set in New England (northeastern United States) and will revolve around a family conflict. According to a leak from GamingLeaksAndRumours, the story will focus on the wealthy Bennet family, which includes Layla, Dax, Brie, Christian, Henry, and Krista, all entangled in a power struggle. Their family dynamic has been compared to the characters from the hit TV series Succession.
One of the game’s main villains is rumored to be Ian Duncan, a conspiracy theorist with a loyal army of followers who resents the Bennets’ wealth and power.
The premise of Far Cry 7 appears to share similarities with Far Cry 5, released in 2018, which took players to the fictional Hope County to battle an apocalyptic cult led by Joseph Seed, aka “The Father”. However, it remains unclear whether Far Cry 7 will feature a fictional setting or take place in an existing New England location. The region includes the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
Additionally, the rumor mentions two key supporting characters: John Mackay and Dr. Safna Kazan. Their roles in the story have yet to be revealed, nor has it been confirmed if any high-profile actors will portray them—similar to Giancarlo Esposito’s performance as Antón Castillo in Far Cry 6.
Ubisoft has not yet announced Far Cry 7
It’s important to note that Ubisoft has not officially confirmed Far Cry 7 or shared any details about the franchise’s future. For now, the company’s 2025 lineup includes titles like Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Anno 117: Pax Romana, and Rainbow Six Siege X.
Meanwhile, several games remain on the back burner, including Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, Beyond Good & Evil 2, a new Splinter Cell, and Tom Clancy’s The Division 3. None of these titles currently have a release date or any major updates.
