Fortnite has rolled out a new control system that empowers parents to set playtime limits for their children. This update allows parents and guardians to manage how long their kids can play each day and establish specific time windows for game access.
The new features can be found in the Fortnite parental controls menu and the Epic account portal. Parents can set total daily playtime limits and define when the game can be accessed. If these time limits are in place, children will receive an in-game notification when they have 30 minutes left in their allotted playtime.
Additionally, the system includes an option for parents to decide whether their kids can request more playtime once they reach the limit. If enabled, these requests can be submitted directly through the game. Once the daily limit is hit, players will be unable to continue until the next day or until the designated playtime window reopens.
Playing Time Report
Additionally, Fortnite now includes a screen time reporting dashboard that allows parents to monitor how much time their children spend playing the game on a daily and weekly basis. This report also details any extra play periods that were granted.
These new controls complement existing features provided by Epic Games, which include restrictions on content access based on age ratings, as well as controls over voice and text chat, item purchases, and friend requests. This initiative reflects the company’s commitment to enhancing security and parental controls within Fortnite, ensuring a safer gaming environment for younger players.
