Microsoft announced on Thursday (30) that Forza Horizon 5, originally released exclusively for Xbox and PC in 2021, will be coming to PlayStation 5 in 2025. The release is scheduled for the year’s second quarter, though an exact date has yet to be confirmed.

The PS5 version is being developed by Panic Button—known for porting DOOM Eternal to the Nintendo Switch and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor to other platforms—in collaboration with Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games, the original developers of Forza Horizon 5.

According to Microsoft, the PS5 version will include all the content available on Xbox and PC. Expansion packs like Hot Wheels, Rally Adventure, and additional car kits will also be available on PSN. Additionally, the game will support crossplay across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

This marks a major shift, as Forza Horizon 5 is the first major Xbox-exclusive franchise to make its way to PlayStation. Given that Forza, Gears of War, and Halo have long been the pillars of Xbox’s exclusive lineup, this move has fueled speculation that Microsoft may consider bringing more flagship titles to PS5.

Originally released in 2021, Forza Horizon 5 was the first entry in the franchise designed specifically for Xbox Series consoles, offering significant improvements over its predecessors. In addition to featuring more realistic graphics, the game expanded its gameplay options with a vast, interactive open world and an extensive catalog of vehicles.

The game’s open-world map recreates various regions of Mexico, showcasing diverse environments such as deserts, jungles, historic cities, hidden ruins, beaches, canyons, and even a volcano—all designed to highlight the graphical power of modern consoles.

While Forza Horizon 5 is now confirmed for PlayStation 5, there is also speculation that a version could be in development for the Nintendo Switch 2. Given Panic Button’s extensive experience with porting games to Nintendo’s platforms, including DOOM Eternal, it’s possible that the studio could be working on bringing Forza Horizon 5 to Nintendo’s next-generation hybrid console as well.
