The Galaxy A16 5G has surfaced in a new performance test on Geekbench, revealing that Samsung’s upcoming entry-level smartphone might come with two different processors. Last week, a Galaxy A16 5G model (SM-A166P) was spotted with MediaTek’s Dimensity 6300 chip. However, a more recent listing shows a different model (SM-A166E) equipped with Samsung’s Exynos 1380 processor, also found in the Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A54.
It seems that Samsung plans to release both versions, with the Dimensity-powered model likely targeted at specific markets and the Exynos version for other regions, potentially Asia. The Geekbench tests also indicate a difference in RAM, with the Dimensity version featuring 6 GB and the Exynos variant with 4 GB.
Both versions are expected to launch with Android 14 and likely share similar design, screen, battery, and camera features. In addition to these two 5G models, Samsung is also working on a Galaxy A16 4G, which will be more affordable due to the absence of 5G support.
More information, including pricing and availability, should be revealed soon.
