Galaxy Ring Works with Phones from brands other than Samsung

By Aayush

After the launch of the intelligent Ring Galaxy ring in July, initial speculation and hints from Samsung suggested that the product would only be compatible with Samsung phones. However, recent tests have revealed that the accessory works with Android devices from other brands, including those using Samsung’s AI-based features.

According to the official specifications, Samsung’s smart ring is compatible with mobile devices running Android 11 or later and with at least 1.5 GB of RAM. This makes the Galaxy Ring suitable for most smartphones available today.

Testing by Android Police showed that the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra, running Android 14 and equipped with at least 8 GB of RAM, pairs well with the Galaxy Ring. The device’s features, such as Energy Score—a component of the Samsung Health ecosystem that rates body energy levels on a scale from 1 to 100—provided accurate readings after the first night of use.

Additionally, Wellness Tips, which offer AI-generated suggestions to enhance well-being based on the user’s health data, functioned effectively when paired with the Razr 50 Ultra. These tips began appearing after a few days of data collection, indicating compatibility regardless of the brand of the paired smartphone.

However, a notable difference was observed in the synchronization frequency of the Galaxy Ring when connected to a Motorola phone compared to a Samsung device. In some instances, data took several hours to update on the smartphone, a delay also reported when the ring was paired with the OnePlus 12.

The Galaxy Ring is currently available for purchase in the United States at a price of $399.
