Samsung has officially confirmed the development of the Exynos 2500 processor and announced that the upcoming Galaxy S25 series will feature “top-of-the-line upgrades” across multiple aspects, with a particular emphasis on cameras, display technology, and processing power. The company also hinted at an increased focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities for its next generation of premium smartphones, revealing plans for strategic partnerships to drive significant advancements in this area.

During the announcement of its financial results for the second quarter of 2024, Samsung not only reported record sales for the Galaxy S24 line but also took the opportunity to unveil initial details about future launches, specifically the Galaxy S25 series slated for 2025. Daniel Araujo, Vice President of Samsung MX (the company’s smartphone division), stated,

We have consistently improved the hardware in our S Series to deliver innovative experiences to consumers, and we will continue to enhance key experiences and upgrade the hardware to deliver industry-leading performance.”

Araujo elaborated,

For camera and display specs in particular, where we are already leading, the (Galaxy) S25 will bring top-of-the-line upgrades at launch. And we have also prepared the industry’s best APs (processors) and memory to supercharge AI performance and deliver a complete premium experience.”

These statements confirm the “Galaxy S25” name and lend credence to recent rumors about the S25 family. Speculations suggest that at least the Galaxy S25 Ultra will feature:

  • 16 GB of RAM
  • A powerful camera array includes:
    • A new 200 MP main camera
    • A 50 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom
    • A 50 MP periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom
    • An updated 50 MP ultrawide camera

Regarding processors, the lineup is expected to include the Exynos 2500 and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 for Galaxy. However, some rumors have suggested that Samsung might consider using MediaTek’s anticipated Dimensity 9400 chipset for the first time in its flagship series.

Araujo also emphasized the company’s commitment to expanding AI capabilities, mentioning partnerships to increase functionality and extend Galaxy AI features to more devices, including laptops and wearables. He stated,

We hope to be able to understand the context of conversations (with AI) and provide a natural conversation and experience across all our devices. To this end, we will strengthen our partnerships and collaborations as we further develop our AI technologies.”

This focus on AI aligns with recent speculation that Samsung is collaborating with Google to incorporate a Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) into the Exynos chips. This integration could enhance the Galaxy line’s compatibility with Android’s AI features, accelerating AI computations and opening up new possibilities for user experiences.

While the launch of the Galaxy S25 series is still months away (expected in January if Samsung follows its usual release schedule), these confirmations from the company suggest that we can anticipate a steady stream of leaks and additional details about the phones in the coming months.
