The upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra, which is set to be Samsung’s flagship model, recently appeared in a Safety Korea certification, signaling that its development is underway. This certification also confirmed earlier rumors about the device’s battery specifications.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra will feature a 4,885 mAh battery, likely marketed as 5,000 mAh, matching the capacity and charging capabilities of Samsung’s top models from almost five years ago. The device is expected to support 45W wired charging, which falls short of some Chinese competitors pushing the envelope with larger batteries, like those with 6,000 mAh or more, and faster-charging technologies.
For instance, Realme has recently showcased a 320W charging tech that can fully charge a battery in just four minutes, although it’s unclear which smartphone will debut this feature.
There’s also speculation that Samsung might rename the S25 Ultra to the “S25 Note,” a nod to the Galaxy Note series, which was phased out in favor of the Ultra models. This change could come alongside a design update, with the S25 Ultra/Note expected to have softer, more rounded lines to improve hand comfort.
The Galaxy S25 series is anticipated to launch in January 2025, likely following the release of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor, which is expected to power some versions of the device.
