Gboard Gets Ctrl + Z Style button on Android

By Aayush

Google’s mobile keyboard, Gboard, has introduced Undo and Redo commands in its Android version. These shortcuts function similarly to Ctrl + Z (undo) and Ctrl + Y (redo) on computers, allowing users to quickly reverse or restore text edits.

Previously available in the app’s beta version, this feature is now rolling out to all users with Gboard version 15 on the Play Store. AllTechNerd tested and confirmed its availability in both the beta and stable versions.

This update significantly improves the typing experience on mobile devices. For example, if you accidentally paste text over existing content, you no longer have to delete everything manually—the Undo button lets you restore it in just a few taps.

While some note-taking apps already offer undo/redo functions, popular messaging platforms like WhatsApp still lack this feature. Building it into Gboard provides a valuable alternative for users across different apps.
