GeForce RTX 5060 mobile surpasses desktop RTX 4060 Ti in benchmark

By Aayush

The spotlight on GeForce RTX 50 GPUs has mostly been on the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080. However, a newly leaked benchmark gives us a glimpse of the potential of the RTX 5060, specifically for notebooks. According to a Time Spy test, the RTX 5060 outperforms the desktop RTX 4060 Ti, scoring an impressive 13,821 points.

This places the RTX 5060 slightly ahead of the RTX 4060 Ti for desktop PCs and shows substantial gains compared to mobile GPUs from the Ada Lovelace generation. Specifically, the Blackwell GPU delivers 32% better performance than the notebook RTX 4060 and 10% better than the RTX 4070, based on this benchmark.

What’s particularly noteworthy is that the RTX 5060 provides 2-3% higher performance than the desktop RTX 4060 Ti, while likely consuming significantly less power. While exact power consumption figures for the RTX 5060 mobile chip are not yet available, historical trends suggest a substantial efficiency improvement with each new GPU generation.

In addition, a fresh rumor about NVIDIA’s next flagship GPU indicates that it could feature 24 GB of GDDR7 memory, organized in 3 GB modules. This marks a significant leap compared to the current RTX 4090 for notebooks, which comes with just 16 GB of memory.

These exciting advancements are expected to be officially announced next Monday (January 6), during NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang’s presentation at CES 2025.
