Google Pixel 9 Pro XL has reports of “crooked” image on zoom camera

By Aayush

Google’s latest flagship, the Pixel 9 Pro XL, is facing a puzzling issue where users are reporting that the device’s zoom function results in a “crooked” image. This problem seems to affect the ultrawide camera as well. Although manually switching between lenses can sometimes resolve the issue, the root cause remains unclear.

The issue was first highlighted on Reddit by a user named “lordinarius,” who noticed the distortion while recording a video. The problem is particularly evident when switching between the 2x and 5x zoom levels, where images and videos display an unintended tilt. Unfortunately, this isn’t an isolated case; several other users have reported similar experiences, with the error occurring inconsistently and sometimes even affecting the ultrawide lens.

As of now, Google hasn’t officially commented on the issue. However, it’s likely that the company will investigate and possibly address the problem through a system update, given that the inconsistency suggests it might not be a hardware defect.

Xiaomi's foldable smartphone, Mix Flip, will have a global version in September

The Pixel 9 Pro XL, which launched on October 13 alongside a foldable variant and a new smartwatch, is Google’s most advanced smartphone to date. It features a new design, the Tensor G4 processor, an enhanced camera system, and deep integration with Google’s AI services like Gemini. Despite some bugs—common in the Pixel series—the device has been generally well-received for its durability and performance.
