The highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), originally expected to be released in late 2025, may have been delayed, according to rumors circulating among developers. The leak was shared by Liam, owner of the GTA Base website, on his “X” (formerly Twitter) account. He suggests the game could launch sometime in the first half of 2026. Rockstar Games, the developer, typically releases GTA titles for consoles first, followed by a PC release.
For PC players, the wait might be longer, with GTA 6 potentially not arriving on the platform until between 2027 and 2028. The delay is reportedly because Rockstar needs “more time” to finish polishing the game.
Earlier this year, Take-Two Interactive, the game’s publisher and parent company of Rockstar Games, had shared in a shareholder meeting that GTA 6 was slated for release between September and November 2025. Take-Two’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, had expressed confidence in that timeline.
As of now, Rockstar has not officially confirmed the delay, so there remains a possibility that GTA 6 will stick to its original release window.
