Microsoft is concerned because Apple could make OpenAI technology available to many more people. Apple has over 2.2 billion devices being used, which could create a huge demand for Azure and maybe make Microsoft’s services less critical.
Apple has a mobile platform with billions of users, unlike Microsoft. Apple’s digital assistant could also improve with OpenAI’s conversational AI. People think Apple will announce new AI features at their WWDC event in June.
Apple and OpenAI working together could make a lot of money for Microsoft. However, there’s also a risk that Apple could become the main company known for making AI technology available to everyone. Apple might get all the attention as usual, even though Microsoft has been working on this stuff for a long time.
