How to delete messages on Discord
Before following the tutorial, remember that to delete a message on Discord, you need to be the creator or admin of the group on the service. Deleting messages manually (individually) or using a bot to automate all the work is possible.
To delete a message on Discord on the computer:
- Go to “discord.com” (without quotes) or open the desktop app on a PC or Mac;
- Enter the server you want to delete one or more messages;
- Locate the message and hover over it;
- Click on the three dots “More” icon in the right corner;
- Select “Delete message”;
- Confirm with “Delete.”
To delete a message on Discord on the smartphone:
- Open the Discord app on Android or iPhone;
- Enter the server you want to delete one or more messages;
- Tap on the message and hold for a few seconds;
- Select “Delete message”;
- Confirm the deletion with “Yes.”
How to Delete Multiple Messages at Once on Discord
Discord does not yet have a feature to delete multiple messages at once. However, you can go to specific sites to search for a bot that can delete multiple messages at the same time.
You can use whatever bot you want. In the following example, CommandCleanUp was used. Remember. that downloading this type of tool is the user’s responsibility.
- Access to CommandCleanUp page and click on “Invite”;
- Select a server to add the bot to and click “Continue”;
- Authorize the bot to use server permissions;
- Click on “Authorize” and confirm that you are not a robot;
- Join the Discord server to delete more than one message.
You can use the following commands to delete a message on Discord. Type exactly as in the bold text:
- .cleanup text — deletes all text messages;
- .cleanup link — deletes all messages with links;
- .cleanup bot — deletes all messages from other bots.
It is also worth emphasizing that you or other server administrators need permission to manage messages to delete a message on Discord. Otherwise, CommandCleanUp, or any other bot, will be offline for use.
