How to Fix Outlook Sync Error

Microsoft has fixed a big problem that was bothering Microsoft 365 users. The problem was with Outlook desktop clients, which couldn’t connect to email servers using Exchange ActiveSync (EAS). This connection is super important because it lets people get their emails, calendars, contacts, and tasks.

The problem, which only affected users updated to Version 2401 Build 17231.20182, has been fixed in Version 2402 Build 17328.20068. Microsoft suggests users install the update to restore full Outlook functionality.

Before the final fix, a temporary solution was provided. Users could revert Office M365 Click-to-Run installations to an unaffected build or switch to an Office Channel without the sync issue.

Microsoft is also investigating an issue triggering security alerts in Outlook when opening.ICS calendar files after installing the December 2023 Patch Tuesday Office security updates.

Last month, Microsoft fixed another known Outlook issue causing connection problems for desktop and mobile email clients using Outlook.com accounts.
