What are Google Chrome extensions?
Google Chrome extensions are tiny programs that can modify and improve your browsing experience. They can add new features, change the appearance of websites, and even help you save time and energy by automating tasks.
There are extensions for almost everything you can imagine, from ad blockers and password managers to Amazon price trackers and RedditEnhancement Suite. And because they’re easy to install and usually free, there’s no reason not to try a few. You can check out our articles about a few extensions.
Now, the issue arises of how to install these Chrome extensions.
The installation process for Chrome Extensions is simple and fast. Even if the user doesn’t know which plug-in to download, he can use the Google Store search engine to find exactly what he needs.
1. Go to the Chrome Web Store through the Google browser and, in the search bar, type the name of the plugin you want to download or the function you are looking for;
2. On the right of the screen, click on the “Add to Chrome” button and, in the window that will be displayed on the page type, confirm the decision with the “Add extension” command;
3. To access the extension and manage the ones already installed, Go to the Plugins menu, represented by the puzzle icon. You can pin each item and access options in this tab via the three-dot button. At the end of the window, tap on “Manage extensions”;
4. With that, you will see all the installed extensions, as well as the action buttons “Learn more,” which shows plugin details, “Remove,” which uninstalls the extension, and “Errors,” if any. You will also see a button on the right to disable or enable the tool.
Although they are very useful, Chrome Extensions also have negative aspects. Since most are created and made available by third-party companies, they can threaten the security of your device and data. So, before installing a tool in your browser, ensure its origin is trustworthy.
