The release of Call of Duty: Vanguard marked a milestone for new content and storytelling and the introduction of Activision’s groundbreaking anti-cheat system, Ricochet Anti-Cheat.
Designed to enhance the multiplayer experience in Vanguard and the widely popular Call of Duty: Warzone, this system promises improved security and fairer gameplay. While still in its implementation phase, Ricochet is poised to become a key tool in tackling cheating in the franchise’s PC games.
How Ricochet Anti-Cheat Works
Ricochet Anti-Cheat operates at a kernel level on PCs, delving deep into the operating system to monitor interactions between third-party applications and the game. This system detects suspicious activities, such as irregular telemetry or unauthorized connections, and flags them for further analysis. When evidence of cheating is found, offenders risk penalties, including account suspension or permanent bans.
While the system’s advanced technology offers significant promise, Activision acknowledges that no system is foolproof. Therefore, players are encouraged to play an active role by reporting any instances of cheating or toxic behavior.
How to Report Cheaters in Call of Duty
Players can report suspicious activity directly through the game’s menus. However, reports can only be filed after the round ends in multiplayer matches. Here’s a step-by-step guide to reporting a cheater:
- On Xbox, press Y; on PlayStation, Press Triangle; or select the corresponding option in the screen’s upper-right corner.
- From the top menu, navigate to the Recent Squad section. This will display the list of players from recent matches.
- Select the suspected cheater and click using your mouse or press A (Xbox) or X (PlayStation).
- In the menu, choose the Report Player option.
- Select Cheating (other categories, such as toxic behavior, are also available).
Additionally, players can block or unfriend toxic or cheating players and add trustworthy teammates to their friends list for future matches. If reporting someone on your friend list, Activision advises unfriending them before filing a complaint.
A Collaborative Effort to Maintain Fair Play
Activision’s anti-cheat strategy combines advanced technology with community participation. The moderation team evaluates reports alongside telemetry data to determine if penalties are warranted. This dual approach aims to foster a balanced gaming environment across Call of Duty: Vanguard, Warzone, and other titles in the franchise.
Activision is taking proactive steps to curb cheating and improve everyone’s multiplayer experience by empowering players with tools like Ricochet and emphasizing vigilance within the community.
