Just weeks before the anticipated launch of the iPhone 16 lineup, Apple has reportedly ramped up the production of displays for the new devices, according to a report from the Korean news portal ET News.
Samsung and LG Display will manufacture the displays for the upcoming iPhone 16 series. Samsung Display is expected to produce approximately 80 million display panels, while LG Display will contribute around 43 million units.
This increased display production, about 30% higher than the initial forecasted shipments of 90 million units for the iPhone 16 line, suggests Apple is preparing for strong demand for the new devices.
The most significant changes in the display department are expected to be seen in the Pro and Pro Max models. These high-end variants are rumored to feature wider screens, with the iPhone 16 Pro boasting a 6.3-inch panel and the iPhone 16 Pro Max sporting a 6.9-inch display. This represents an increase from the 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays found in their respective predecessors.
The newly produced displays will be shipped to Apple’s manufacturing facilities, where the final assembly of the iPhone 16 lineup will be completed in time for the scheduled launch.
The iPhone 16 series is expected to be unveiled during the second week of September, possibly on September 10th. Customers can then expect to receive their new devices in the days following the official launch.
In addition to the display upgrades, the iPhone 16 lineup is rumored to feature a refreshed design for the standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models and a new physical capture button for the camera system. Improvements in battery life, processing power, and integration of artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities through Apple Intelligence are also anticipated.
As Apple’s flagship product, the iPhone 16 series is eagerly anticipated by consumers and industry observers alike. The accelerated display production indicates Apple’s confidence in the upcoming devices and their potential to meet the high demand from the market.
