Instagram has announced an update that lets users add up to 20 photos or videos in a single carousel post, doubling the previous limit of 10 items. This new feature will start rolling out globally on Thursday, August 8.
Instagram first introduced the carousel feature in 2017, enabling users to share multiple photos or videos in one post, making viewing different moments in sequence easier. By increasing the number of items allowed in a post, Instagram is stepping up to match features offered by competitors like TikTok, which already allows up to 35 photos in a single post.
Instagram Improvements
Instagram has recently rolled out several updates aimed at enhancing user experience. Along with increasing the limit for carousel posts to 20 items, the platform has introduced new features that include the ability to add temporary, person-specific notes directly to Reels and feed posts, as well as an option to leave public comments on Stories.
In addition to these features, Instagram has emphasized its continued focus on short videos, reaffirming that views will now be the primary metric for measuring the performance of Reels, Stories, and other content formats. These updates signal Instagram’s commitment to staying competitive and catering to user preferences, particularly in the realm of video content.
