Intel has been tight-lipped about its upcoming Arc “Battlemage” GPUs, but sources from the company’s partner manufacturers have confirmed that the new desktop graphics cards are set to launch in 2024—and this will happen before the year is out.
An unnamed commercial partner shared this information with ZDNet Korea, though Intel has yet to provide an official announcement. According to the source, the new GPU series is expected to arrive in December 2024, with no delays anticipated.
“2nd Gen Intel Arc graphics cards with Xe ‘Battlemage’ cores are expected to arrive before the end of December at the latest.”
Given the rumors surrounding the launch of Intel’s Arc “Battlemage” GPUs for desktop, along with a planned presentation in early December and several leaked images, it’s highly likely that the information is accurate.
Images of two models from the series, the ASRock Steel Legend B580 and the Challenger B580 were recently spotted on Amazon, further adding to the speculation.
Intel aims to release its Arc “Battlemage” GPUs ahead of CES 2025, avoiding the heavy competition expected during the event, where NVIDIA is likely to unveil its GeForce RTX 50 series, and AMD is expected to showcase the Radeon RX 8000. This strategy will allow Intel to make a move before the intense market “crossfire” that will unfold early next year.
Intel releases in 2024
The launch of Intel’s Arc “Battlemage” desktop graphics cards will mark the company’s final major release for the year.
Earlier in 2024, Intel introduced the Lunar Lake processors, which featured integrated Xe2 “Battlemage” graphics designed for laptops and mini PCs. Then, in October, the company released the Arrow Lake CPUs, targeting desktop systems.
While there is considerable anticipation surrounding these upcoming GPUs, Intel has yet to officially confirm any details. However, a presentation is scheduled for December, where we can expect to learn more about the Arc “Battlemage” graphics cards.
