According to TrendForce, the iPhone 16 Pro is expected to start with 256 GB of internal storage in its base model, signaling the retirement of the 128 GB option. This shift mirrors the strategy Apple employed with the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which also eliminated the 128 GB variant.
If this rumor proves accurate, Apple might apply a similar approach to the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models, potentially maintaining their entry-level 128 GB options. The 128 GB storage size became the baseline for Apple’s Pro models starting with the iPhone 12 Pro in 2020, and the same change was made for non-Pro iPhone 13 models the following year.
Should Apple continue this trend, it’s possible the iPhone 17 lineup could also start at 256 GB. However, there is no confirmation on this yet.
The iPhone 16 series is set to be unveiled on Monday (September 9) at an event organized by Apple. Leaks and protective covers have already given a glimpse of the new designs. Expected features for the iPhone 16 line include a new capture button for photos and videos, and the Pro model is anticipated to introduce a tetraprism camera for enhanced zoom and advanced AI capabilities through Apple Intelligence.
