The budget-friendly segment of Apple’s smartphone lineup is about to get an exciting refresh, with the iPhone SE 4 reportedly on track for an early release. Fresh insights from industry insider @Jukanlosreve and Aju News suggest we’ll unveil this new device at the start of next year. This launch is particularly interesting because it marks a significant design shift – it’ll be the first affordable iPhone to say goodbye to the familiar Touch ID home button.
The timing of this leak aligns nicely with other industry movements, particularly LG Innotek’s reported plans to begin mass-producing camera modules for the device this December. This timeline makes perfect sense since LG typically starts manufacturing iPhone components about three months before they hit store shelves.
When will the iPhone SE 4 be released?
According to the latest buzz on X (formerly Twitter), corroborated by Aju News, Apple plans to unveil this new budget-friendly iPhone in March 2025.
While earlier speculation pointed to an earlier launch, this timing follows Apple’s established pattern – the current iPhone SE 3 debuted in March 2022, maintaining Apple’s typical two to three-year refresh cycle for this series.
Model Specifications
The rumored specifications suggest this won’t be your typical budget device. @Jukanlosreve reports that the SE 4 will come equipped with Apple Intelligence capabilities, powered by the same A18 chip and 8GB RAM configuration found in this year’s iPhone 16.
The display appears to be getting a significant upgrade, too. Gone is the modest 4.7-inch LCD screen of the SE 3, replaced by a more spacious 6.1-inch OLED display, bringing it more in line with the iPhone 13’s visual experience.
Camera capabilities are also significantly boosted, with a reported 48MP primary rear camera and a 12MP front-facing camera. The battery is substantially upgraded from 2,018mAh to 3,279mAh, now supporting MagSafe wireless charging.
Rounding out the package are some premium features previously unseen in the SE line: 128GB storage, Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, and robust IP68 water and dust resistance. These upgrades suggest Apple is serious about making the SE 4 a more competitive option in the mid-range smartphone market.
