Lexar recently introduced its new SSD, the Play 2280, designed specifically for the PlayStation 5. Offering up to 8 TB of storage, this PCIe 4.0 drive boasts impressive read speeds of up to 7,400 MB/s and write speeds of 6,500 MB/s, making it an excellent option for gaming PCs as well.
The SSD also adheres to the PlayStation 5’s design guidelines, featuring a built-in, low-profile heatsink that helps prevent overheating. This ensures smooth performance, faster game loading times, and an overall enhanced gaming experience on both the PS5 and high-performance gaming systems.
“The Play 2280 SSD is the perfect companion for PS5, offering plenty of additional storage, the ability to play games directly from the drive, and the performance gamers demand,” said Lexar marketing manager Sherry Chiang.
The Lexar Play 2280 SSD, featuring a 2280 form factor, is designed for speed and efficiency, utilizing Host Memory Buffer (HMB) and SLC dynamic cache to ensure quick data access and rapid response times. This technology helps maintain consistent high performance, making it ideal for demanding gaming environments.
Lexar also emphasizes the durability and quality of the SSD, with the 8TB version offering an impressive lifespan of 1.5 million hours and a total bytes written (TBW) rating of 6,400TBW. This ensures long-term reliability, making it a robust storage solution for both PlayStation 5 and high-performance gaming PCs.
