Meta made an announcement on Monday (6) revealing that Dana White, the CEO of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), will join its board of directors. White, who has been at the helm of UFC since 2002, has transformed the organization into the world’s leading mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion.
White has a strong connection with Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, who is a well-known MMA fan and has even appeared alongside UFC fighters. Additionally, White is known for his support of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, suggesting a potential strengthening of ties between Zuckerberg and the U.S. government in the upcoming term.
In 2023, White was also involved in discussions surrounding a proposed MMA fight between Elon Musk and Zuckerberg, though the bout never came to fruition.
Zuckerberg expressed his admiration for Dana White, highlighting his entrepreneurial skills and his ability to build such a respected brand. White, in turn, shared his excitement about joining Meta, stating that he believes in the potential of social networks and AI, and is eager to help take Meta to new heights.

Along with Dana White, Meta also appointed Charlie Songhurst and John Elkann to its board of directors.

He previously worked at Microsoft as the General Director and Head of Global Corporate Strategy, where he played a key role in acquisitions like Yahoo and Skype. Recently, Songhurst has been collaborating with Meta, providing consulting services on advancements in AI.
John Elkann serves as the CEO of Exor, one of Europe’s leading investment holdings, particularly active in the automotive sector. Exor’s portfolio includes major companies like Stellantis (the parent company of brands such as Alfa Romeo, Fiat, and Jeep), Philips, and Ferrari.
Mark Zuckerberg expressed his enthusiasm about the new additions to Meta’s board, stating, “Dana, John, and Charlie will add a depth of expertise and perspective that will help us address the massive opportunities around AI, wearables, and the future of human connection.”
Currently, Meta’s board comprises 13 members, including Zuckerberg himself.
