A few months ago, Microsoft introduced Copilot, an AI feature developed in collaboration with OpenAI that promises to be integrated across all its products. Now, they’re enhancing Word by adding custom profiles to Copilot to improve its functionality. While Copilot can be unpredictable, it brings some exciting features.
In the competitive tech world, customization is crucial. Microsoft Copilot in Word, already known for summarizing documents, rewriting text, and generating ideas, now boosts productivity further by introducing custom profiles.
Copilot in Word, a writing experience tailored to you
Microsoft Copilot customization profiles let users tailor the AI assistant’s responses to their preferences and interests. This innovation is similar to the “Sound like me” feature in Outlook but takes personalization even further.
By customizing the text generated by AI, users can add a more personal touch and authenticity to their responses. This enhancement of the Copilot function in Word offers a level of personalization beyond what other AI tools provide, making the experience more unique and user-centric.

According to Microsoft, this new feature is rolling out to the web version in July 2024 for those with Copilot Pro and Copilot for Microsoft 365 subscription plans. These users will be among the first to test out the enhanced Copilot feature.
Additionally, Microsoft recently announced plans to integrate Bing into the application. This means users can get search engine answers directly within the app. However, there is a concern that these features may see limited use and could fade away due to a general lack of user interest.
