Microsoft’s Copilot AI Assistant Comes to Windows 10

Microsoft is introducing its Copilot AI assistant to eligible non-managed systems within the Windows Insider program. This includes devices running Windows 10 22H2 Home and Pro editions. Here’s how to get started:

1. For Insiders in the Release Preview Channel:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Activate the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” toggle.
  • Check for updates after installing Windows 10 22H2 Build 19045.3757 (KB5032278).

2. Phased Launch:

  • The rollout will be gradual via a controlled feature rollout (CFR) over the next few months.
    – Windows 10 Enterprise or Education version 22H2 and managed Professional devices will be included in subsequent deployment phases.

3. IT Administrator Preparation:

IT administrators can prepare for Copilot integration by following guidance on the “Manage Copilot in Windows” support page.

Once added to a Windows 10 system, users can launch Copilot by clicking the new icon at the end of the taskbar. The AI assistant offers a chat window for queries and supports voice interactions via the microphone icon. However, certain features, such as opening applications or customizing preferences, may not be available on Windows 10.
