At CES 2025, accessories manufacturer Genki unveiled a replica of the rumored Nintendo Switch 2, showcasing some key details about the new console and its related products. The company displayed models of controllers and a dock designed for the upcoming system.
Genki stated that the replica features the same button layout and dimensions as the original Switch, providing a clear idea of what to expect from the next-generation console. Additionally, the company revealed that the Switch 2 is set to be released before May.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen leaked information about the Nintendo Switch 2. Other accessory makers have also shown off products like Joy-Con controllers and docks and even speculated color options for the console. However, Nintendo has not officially confirmed or denied these rumors, leaving many questions unanswered regarding the system’s official announcement.
One notable detail in the videos of the Nintendo Switch 2 replica is the method for detaching the controllers. Unlike the original Switch, where the controllers were removed from the top, the new design allows users to detach them from the sides, which aligns with earlier leaks suggesting that a magnetic connection might be used.
Another intriguing feature is the new button on the right Joy-Con, labeled “C”. While its exact function has yet to be confirmed, it’s likely connected to new technologies the console may introduce.
Behind closed doors, Genki also confirmed that some individuals have reportedly found the Nintendo Switch 2 available for sale through the parallel market. They didn’t specify whether these were prototypes or the final version, but they did warn that anyone looking to purchase one would need to “spend a considerable amount” to get their hands on it.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is no longer a mystery
After countless leaks and rumors, the Nintendo Switch 2 is no longer a mystery, and the main question now is, “When will Nintendo officially unveil the console?” While the company has confirmed that an announcement will be made during this fiscal year (which ends in April), there has been no official word yet in the early weeks of 2025.
Though various leakers and accessory manufacturers have already showcased the console, much less has been revealed about the games that will be available at launch and the new technologies the system will offer—beyond the Joy-Con’s magnetic connection and revised button layout.
The only official details currently available are that the Nintendo Switch 2 will support backward compatibility, meaning that all existing Nintendo Switch games will be playable on the new console. Additionally, Nintendo has confirmed that its signature service, Nintendo Switch Online, will be available on the successor. However, the full scope of new features and launch titles remains under wraps.
