OpenAI may soon launch the Strawberry super AI, an advanced artificial intelligence model that promises to improve mathematical and programming skills. According to The Information, the launch is scheduled for the next few months and will bring significant improvements compared to current chatbots.
Project Strawberry, formerly known as Q (Q Star), was designed to solve complex problems that existing models cannot effectively address.
Performance leap in AI
The Strawberry model has shown promising advancements, particularly in its ability to solve elementary school-level math problems with greater accuracy than current AI models like ChatGPT, which still struggle with basic math operations.
In addition to improved math skills, the Strawberry model can handle more subjective questions if given extra time to “think,” according to sources cited by The Information. This feature could significantly enhance the model’s ability to tackle complex problems.
An important aspect of Project Strawberry is its role in developing Orion, OpenAI’s upcoming large-scale language model. The larger version of Strawberry is being used to generate synthetic data to train new AI models. This synthetic data helps address OpenAI’s challenges in acquiring high-quality, real-world data.
By introducing Strawberry, OpenAI aims to reduce the frequency of “hallucinations” and errors in AI responses. The company hopes that Strawberry will improve its current chatbots’ capabilities and set new benchmarks for the AI industry.
