Opera released a fresh update of its Opera One browser for iOS. Designed to rival Safari, this app brings new features like an AI assistant that can create text and images, smart suggestions tailored to your needs, and a full-screen mode that minimizes distractions for a cleaner browsing experience.
Opera One debuted for desktop users last year, quickly gaining popularity thanks to its AI capabilities. The iOS version has been in the works since January and is now free on the App Store.
Distraction-free browsing
Visually, Opera One is notable for its full-screen mode, which declutters the screen and adjusts menu colors to match the website’s theme. This design optimizes the iPhone’s display, ensuring the webpage content takes center stage.
In addition, Opera One mimics Safari’s approach by positioning the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen, making it easier to use with one hand. The navigation bar can be moved to the top for those who prefer a different layout.
AI for creating and researching
Both the regular Opera browser and the gaming-focused Opera GX include the AI assistant Aria, which is now also available in Opera One for iOS. Aria’s prompt window lets you use text or voice commands for various tasks like summarizing pages, writing text, or conducting deeper searches directly in the browser without opening a separate chatbot.
Additionally, Aria can create images using Google’s Imagen2 model, producing results within seconds. With Apple’s native browser, Safari, set to receive new AI features with iOS 18, this addition to Opera One offers iPhone users more choices for AI-powered browsing.
Other Opera One features
The iOS app also features search features and other tools standard to the Opera family:
- The search screen includes keyword suggestions to speed up the search;
- The home page combines product recommendations, news, and sports scores, similar to Google Discover;
- VPN and native ad blocker.
