Pixel Watch 3 Unveiled with Expanded Screen and Smart Home Integration

By Aayush

On the same day that Google unveiled the Pixel 9 line of smartphones, they also introduced the new Pixel Watch 3. This updated generation includes a version with a larger screen, along with several other new features.

Pixel Watch 3 gets a larger version and screen improvements

The new Pixel Watch 3 comes in two sizes: a larger 45 mm version and a more compact 41 mm version. Both models now feature 16% thinner bezels around the display, which was a popular request from fans of the line.

The Pixel Watch 3 introduces new watch faces that complement its minimalist design and take advantage of the larger screen. It features Gorilla Glass 5 for protection and a frame made from 100% recycled aluminum.

The display is now brighter, with a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits, up from 1,000 nits in the previous model. This means it will be easier to see the screen in bright outdoor conditions.

Additionally, the new display supports refresh rates from 1 to 60 Hz, improving the smoothness of effects and animations compared to the previous generation’s 30 Hz. While it doesn’t reach the 120 Hz seen on many phone screens, it still offers a noticeable upgrade in fluidity.

The Pixel Watch 3 will come in new colors, including pink, beige, green, and black straps, with the core available in silver, black, or gold.

For added safety, the Pixel Watch 3 now includes pulse loss detection. This feature can alert preselected contacts if it detects a disruption in your heartbeat.

Product controls smart home, unlocks cars, and more

The Pixel Watch 3 comes with several new software features. The built-in Pixel Recorder app allows you to create and save voice notes, and perform searches. Google Home integration lets you view footage from connected security cameras directly on the watch’s screen. The call assistant uses Google’s AI to handle calls, making conversations smoother.

The 41mm version of the Pixel Watch 3 has a 306mAh battery, while the 45mm model features a 420mAh battery. Both versions offer up to 24 hours of typical use, and up to 36 hours with energy-saving mode.
