Sony has confirmed that 40 to 50 games will be updated to fully utilize the graphical enhancements of the PlayStation 5 Pro at its launch in November. The PS5 Pro aims to deliver smooth gameplay with 4K resolution at 60 FPS, eliminating the need for players to choose between performance and fidelity modes, a common issue with current consoles.
While Sony hasn’t released the full list of updated titles, it has promised that these games will receive free patches via PlayStation Network, automatically enhancing them to take advantage of the PS5 Pro’s capabilities. So far, the company has revealed a preliminary list of 13 games that will carry the “PS5 Pro Enhanced” seal:
- Alan Wake 2
- Assassin’s Creed: Shadows
- Demon’s Souls
- Dragon’s Dogma 2
- Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
- Gran Turismo 7
- Hogwarts Legacy
- Horizon Forbidden West
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
- The Crew Motorfest
- The First Descendant
- The Last of Us Part II Remastered
Some of these games will also offer additional visual modes. For example, *Gran Turismo 7* has been tested in an 8K mode, as well as a 4K mode with ray tracing, providing stunning photorealistic visuals. According to Mark Cerny, the PS5 Pro’s chief architect, some games will offer three different visual modes designed specifically for the console, though details on these modes remain unclear.
All compatible games will run at 4K and 60 FPS, with no need to compromise on either image quality or frame rate. This is thanks to the new PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) upscaling technology, which uses AI and machine learning to provide sharper and more detailed images, enhancing both PS5 Pro games and PS VR2 experiences.
The PlayStation 5 Pro will be available starting November 7 for $699.99 in the US, with pre-orders beginning on September 26.
