Realme has officially announced the date for unveiling its new 300-watt wired fast charging technology, which could potentially charge a smartphone’s battery in just about 5 minutes. The reveal is set for Wednesday, the 14th of this month, during an event in China.

The company has teased the upcoming announcement with a promotional poster, encouraging users to “break the record again” and witness a “milestone in fast charging on Realme phones.”

However, Realme hasn’t clarified whether this event will introduce just the 300-watt power adapter or if it will also showcase the first smartphone equipped with this advanced charging technology. It’s also possible that the event will simply demonstrate the capabilities of the technology without revealing specific implementation dates or devices that will feature it.

Currently, the Realme GT 3, launched in China as the GT Neo 5, holds the record for the highest charging power on a smartphone, supporting 240-watt charging. This enables the device to go from 0% to 100% battery in under 10 minutes, based on the company’s internal testing.

Xiaomi previously demonstrated a similar 300-watt charging technology last year, with a prototype smartphone featuring a 4,100mAh battery that could fully recharge in just 5 minutes. However, despite the announcement nearly 17 months ago, Xiaomi has yet to release a smartphone with this technology.

The same uncertainty surrounds Realme’s 300-watt charging announcement, as it’s unclear whether the company will immediately launch a compatible smartphone. We’ll have to wait until the event to see if Realme will bring this groundbreaking technology to market.
