RTX 3060 Dominates Steam’s Hardware Survey Despite Newer Models

Although the current generation of NVIDIA graphics cards (RTX 40 series) has been available for more than two years, the GeForce RTX 3060 continues to dominate Steam’s hardware survey. According to Valve’s most recent report, the RTX 3060 saw a nearly 1% increase in December, now holding a 6.02% share of the market.

This 0.99% growth follows a 0.73% decline between October and November, which allowed more room for its successor, the RTX 4060. Despite its own 1.03% growth in share, the Ada Lovelace GPU is still catching up.

The rise in RTX 3060 users on Steam is intriguing. However, it’s important to remember that Valve’s platform survey only reflects users on Steam who opt to share their system specifications. This doesn’t necessarily represent the overall global market of PC gamers.

RTX 3060 and RTX 4060 cost almost the same in Brazil

The Ampere GPU’s dominance remains impressive, especially in Brazil, where the prices of the RTX 3060 and RTX 4060 are quite similar. The RTX 4060 can even cost up to R$400 more, depending on the model, while the 12 GB RTX 3060 remains a popular option.

The RTX 3060 surpassed its predecessor on Steam almost two years ago, and it appears it will continue to lead the pack for the foreseeable future.

With the GeForce RTX 50 series on the horizon, it’s expected that the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 will be the first models to hit the market. As often happens with new GPU generations, the focus will be on high-end cards, leaving the RTX 3060 and RTX 4060 to maintain their position in the entry-level segment for now.
