In the first week of November, AMD is set to expand its Zen 5 CPU lineup with new X3D SKUs. With just two weeks until the launch, the packaging for one of the models has surfaced, sparking rumors that the Ryzen 9000X3D series will feature the second generation of 3D V-Cache technology.
Cache stacking, first introduced with the Ryzen 5000 series, has also been employed in the Ryzen 7000 desktop and notebook CPUs. According to leaker Hoang Anh Phu, known for his reliable predictions, this new generation of 3D V-Cache technology will bring enhancements. However, specifics regarding additional memory capacity or operational speed remain unclear.
While AMD has not provided detailed information about the Ryzen 9000X3D models ahead of their November 7 launch, a leaked box suggests the presence of a Ryzen 7 variant, likely the 9800X3D. This model could follow in the footsteps of its predecessors, the 5800X3D and 7800X3D, which were acclaimed for their gaming performance.

The leak comes from Videocardz, which indicates that there are currently no details on other SKUs that may debut alongside this model. However, earlier rumors hinted at the potential announcement of the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 5 9600X3D.
Changes in the amount of cache on the Ryzen 7 9800X3D?
If the upcoming Ryzen 7 9800X3D follows in the footsteps of its predecessors, it will likely come with the same 96 MB of L3 cache found in previous models, along with varying levels of cache. One aspect that is expected to remain consistent is the architecture, featuring 8 cores and 16 threads, a hallmark of this line of AMD processors.
A rumor from July suggested that AMD would maintain the existing cache memory configuration for the Ryzen 9000X3D series, implying that the 32 MB cache per CCD will stay intact. If this holds, the total cache will still be 96 MB, comprising the standard 32 MB plus an additional 64 MB from the 3D V-Cache.
On the performance front, the Ryzen 9000X3D will introduce something new: motherboard manufacturers like Gigabyte are set to offer a feature called “X3D Turbo.” This model is already part of AMD’s high-end 800 series chipsets and aims to enhance overall performance.
With the launch scheduled for November 7th, we’ll soon learn about the specific changes and improvements in this “second generation” of 3D V-Cache technology and which SKUs in the Ryzen 9000X3D lineup will feature this innovation.
