Samsung might be preparing to launch a more powerful version of the Exynos 2500 chipset, according to recent leaks spotted on Geekbench. A new chip, identified with the model number S5E9955, was discovered, closely resembling the rumored standard version of the Exynos 2500. However, this new version packs extra power, featuring two additional CPU cores.
According to the document, the upgraded chipset would include:
- Three Cortex-X925 cores clocked at 2.59GHz,
- Five Cortex-A725 cores running at 2.25GHz,
- Two Cortex-A520 cores at 1.75GHz.
The graphics processor would also be boosted, adding two more cores clocked at 1.3GHz.
This leak comes amid speculation that the upcoming Galaxy S25 series might use Snapdragon processors globally, leaving the Exynos 2500 for select models. However, it’s unlikely that this more powerful Exynos version is intended for Samsung’s flagship phones. Due to its potentially higher power consumption, this beefier chipset seems more suitable for high-performance devices like tablets or laptops.
Given the specs, this advanced Exynos chip could power the next-generation Galaxy Tab S11 series, positioning it as a serious competitor to Apple’s iPad Pro. Samsung has also experimented with using Snapdragon processors in its Galaxy Book laptops, so it wouldn’t be surprising if this chip targets the notebook processor market, competing with Qualcomm.
Interestingly, the Geekbench test for this chip ran on Android 15, further suggesting it may be optimized for tablets. These details are still speculative, and no official confirmation has been given about this upgraded Exynos 2500 version.
