Samsung has temporarily halted the rollout of One UI 7 in several countries after serious issues were reported with the latest update. This means that users of eligible Galaxy devices will have to wait a little longer to receive Android 15 on their smartphones and tablets.
The suspension comes just one week after the stable version debuted, initially released in South Korea and a few other regions. So far, only devices like the Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, Z Flip 6, and Z Fold 6 had access to the update.
The first hints of the suspension were shared by leaker Ice Universe on platform X (formerly Twitter), who reported that the update was pulled in South Korea due to a severe bug affecting the Galaxy S24. Shortly after, the same action was taken in other countries.
Further confirmation came from users in Samsung’s official forums, where some in South Korea noticed the update had disappeared from the company’s servers. Analysis from Canaltech also noted that Samsung’s servers no longer show signs of the Android 15 release. Instead, the most recent available firmware is based on One UI 6.1, paired with the February security patch.
In a statement to Android Authority, a Samsung representative confirmed that the distribution schedule is being revised to ensure the “best possible experience” for users. However, no specific details were shared about the exact cause of the interruption or when the rollout will resume.
Not the First Time: Samsung Also Paused One UI 4 Rollout in 2021
This isn’t the first time Samsung has hit the brakes on a major software update. In 2021, the company also paused the rollout of One UI 4, which came with Android 12, shortly after its release.
The issue then affected Galaxy S21 series devices and was linked to a bug involving the Google Play Store. Just like now, Samsung suspended the update in multiple countries as a precaution. Fortunately, the company was able to resolve the problem quickly, and the update resumed a few days later.
