Spotify Tests Feature to Create Personalized playlist covers

By Aayush

Spotify has begun testing a new feature that lets users customize playlist covers directly within the app. This tool allows users to design unique covers using custom images, colors, text effects, and graphic elements. The feature is available in beta for both Android and iOS users, and it’s accessible to both free and premium users in 65 countries, though it’s currently only in English.

To showcase the creative potential of this feature, Spotify collaborated with musicians and visual artists, including Clairo and Vita Kari, who designed exclusive artwork for their playlists using the new tool.

The website Alltechnerd reached out to Spotify for more details about when this feature will be available, but no response had been given at the time of publication. Any updates from Spotify will be included as they become available.

How to create a playlist cover on Spotify

If the feature is already available on your account, do the following to create a playlist cover:

  1. Open Spotify;
  2. Select a playlist you created or create a new one;
  3. Click the three-dot playlist menu;
  4. Select the “Create cover” option;
  5. Upload an original photo if desired;
  6. Customize the cover according to your wishes;
  7. Save the cover.

In addition to allowing users to customize text style, colors, effects, backgrounds, and visual elements, Spotify offers exclusive stickers created by artists like Jun Ioneda, Sam Lyon, James Marshall, and Shivani Parasnis.

Once you’ve completed your design, you can share it with friends or post it on social media. However, Spotify notes that you can only save one custom playlist cover at a time. This means that the previous one will be replaced when you create a new cover.

Spotify also suggests that if you want to create multiple designs, it’s best to make copies of the original playlist beforehand to preserve different versions of your cover art.
