The Windows Store is a crucial and popular part of the operating system. Through it, users can access a wide range of programs and games available for download or purchase, maximizing the potential of their computers. With Xbox titles integrated, it’s also a favorite spot for gamers.
Given its importance, Microsoft has released several updates that have significantly improved the Windows Store’s interface. These updates have added many highly desired features, optimized performance, and improved the app installation process. However, despite these enhancements, the Store had one major shortcoming: the library section lacked a search bar.
The library is essential because it’s where users go to update their applications. Fortunately, it now has a search bar, making managing and finding programs much easier. This small but significant addition will significantly enhance the user experience.
The Windows 11 Store is getting a much-requested feature

The Windows Store is organized into several sections such as Apps, Games, Arcade, and Entertainment, among others. One of the most frequently visited sections is the Library. This interface displays installed applications and allows users to search for and install updates.
Keeping applications up to date is crucial for accessing the latest features and receiving security patches that fix bugs. However, a significant shortcoming of the Store Library was the absence of a search bar. While there was a text field at the top for searching and installing new applications and games, there was no feature to find and manage installed programs quickly.
Fortunately, Microsoft seems to have addressed this issue. In some Windows 11 beta builds, a search bar has been added to the Library. This addition was confirmed by screenshots shared by the user @PhantomOfEarth on Platform X, who is well-regarded for such insights.
This search bar is part of the new features in the Store’s version 22406.1401.1.0. However, it is possible that Microsoft is gradually releasing this feature across different Windows test channels, so not everyone with this version may have access to it yet.
Additionally, Microsoft has revealed that the Microsoft Store will experience a 40% speed improvement, making the interface much more fluid and addressing a common user complaint about the Store’s slow and unintuitive performance.
