Vivo, the leading global smartphone brand, launched its highly anticipated V40 line of premium smartphones. The new series boasts a range of cutting-edge features and specifications, catering to the evolving needs of tech-savvy consumers.
The flagship model in the lineup, the Vivo V40 Pro, is powered by the latest MediaTek Dimensity 9200 Plus chipset, a significant upgrade from the previous Dimensity 8200 found in earlier generations. This performance boost positions the V40 Pro on par with other high-end devices, such as the Xiaomi 13T Pro introduced last year.
Vivo has equipped the V40 Pro with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, ensuring smooth multitasking and ample storage capacity for users’ ever-growing digital needs.
The smartphone’s display is a standout feature, featuring a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with a remarkable peak brightness of 4,500 nits. The display also boasts a 120Hz refresh rate and a 2,800 x 1,260 pixels resolution, delivering an immersive and fluid visual experience.
The V40 Pro’s camera system is equally impressive, with a triple-lens setup comprising a 50MP Sony IMX921 primary sensor, a 50MP telephoto lens, and a 50MP ultrawide camera. The front-facing camera, dedicated to selfies and video calls, also packs a powerful 50MP sensor.
Despite its slim 7.58mm profile, comparable to the upcoming Galaxy S24, the V40 Pro has a substantial 5,500mAh battery. Vivo has enhanced the device’s longevity by incorporating 80W fast-charging capabilities and a durability guarantee of 1,600 complete charging cycles, equivalent to more than four years of daily recharging.
Vivo has also prioritized software support, promising “50 months of fluid experiences” for the V40 Pro, which will run on the Android 14 operating system with the company’s Funtouch OS interface.
Vivo V40 was also announced.
Alongside the flagship Vivo V40 Pro, the company has also unveiled the Vivo V40 as a more affordable option within its latest smartphone lineup. While positioned at a lower price point, the V40 maintains many of the same premium features as its higher-end counterpart.
The Vivo V40 is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, a platform that sits in the intermediate segment of the market. This chipset has already demonstrated above-average performance in devices like the Motorola Edge 50 Pro, as analyzed by Canaltech.
Despite the slightly less powerful processor, the Vivo V40 retains the exact display specifications as the V40 Pro. This includes a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with a high 4,500-nit peak brightness, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 2,800 x 1,260 pixels resolution.
The battery capacity also remains unchanged, with the V40 boasting a sizable 5,500mAh cell that supports 80W fast charging, just like the flagship model. Vivo has further ensured the longevity of the V40’s battery, offering a durability guarantee of 1,600 complete charging cycles.
While the V40 does lose the 50MP telephoto camera found in the V40 Pro, it retains the 50MP primary and 50MP ultrawide cameras. The 50MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calls also remains unchanged from the higher-end variant.
