WhatsApp is expanding its Status functionality with a new music-sharing feature, according to WABetaInfo’s report this Tuesday (22). This addition brings WhatsApp’s capabilities closer to those of Instagram Stories, enhancing users’ options for creating temporary publications.
The feature was discovered in WhatsApp Beta for Android (version 2.24.17.21), and a dedicated music button was introduced in the Status editor. Users will find this new option on the Status editing screen, allowing them to enhance their photo or video updates with musical accompaniment.

When creating a Status update, users can search through an integrated music library, browsing specific songs and artists on the platform. Once selected, the chosen music will seamlessly integrate into the Status publication, creating a more engaging multimedia experience.
While this development is exciting for WhatsApp users, it’s important to note that the feature is still in its testing phase, and no official release date has been announced. The company continues to refine the functionality before making it available to the general public.
Meta AI on WhatsApp
Meta has been actively enhancing WhatsApp’s capabilities in related news beyond just media sharing. The company recently integrated its generative artificial intelligence chatbot into the messaging app. This AI integration enables users to interact with the chatbot directly within WhatsApp conversations, access internet information, receive automated responses, and even generate images through conversational prompts.
These updates reflect Meta’s ongoing efforts to evolve WhatsApp’s functionality, keeping it competitive with other social media platforms while adding new features that enhance user engagement and creativity.
