When will Nintendo Switch 2 Released?

During the latest Nintendo Direct on April 2, Nintendo officially announced the release date, price, and key details about its next-generation hybrid console, the Switch 2. Set to launch on June 5, 2025, the console will have a suggested retail price of $449.

In an exclusive interview, Romina Whitlock, Nintendo Latin America’s Marketing Director, confirmed that the Switch 2 will also be available in Brazil around the same time as its U.S. release. She stated that it could hit Brazilian stores by the weekend following the U.S. launch, potentially arriving by June 8, 2025.

Several games are already confirmed for launch alongside the Switch 2. Mario Kart World is the flagship title, designed to showcase the console’s new features, including built-in streaming, voice chat, and other enhancements.

Nintendo Switch 2 with GameCube

Another exciting feature launching with the Nintendo Switch 2 is the addition of a GameCube emulator, included in the expanded Nintendo Switch Online subscription. This will give players access to classic titles like The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, F-Zero GX, and Soul Calibur II right from the start.

Nintendo has also confirmed that more GameCube games will be added over time. Titles such as Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, Luigi’s Mansion, and Mario Strikers are already in the pipeline. Additionally, Super Mario Sunshine and Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance are expected to join the lineup later, with more details to be announced in the near future.

The Nintendo Switch 2 isn’t just bringing backward compatibility, chat features, and other enhancements—it’s also upgrading several beloved games from its predecessor. Titles like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Mario Party Jamboree, and Kirby and the Forgotten Land will receive enhanced versions optimized for the new console.

But that’s not all. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokémon Legends ZA will also launch with upgraded versions tailored for the Switch 2. These improvements will include higher resolutions and better performance, taking full advantage of the hardware’s capabilities.
