Windows 10 Receives Updates Despite Reaching End of Life

By Aayush

Microsoft will officially end support for Windows 10 in 2025, but the company hasn’t stopped rolling out updates for the operating system. Recent changes include updates to the calendar, setting Outlook as the default email app, and a few other tweaks.

These updates were shared with users in the Windows Insider program as part of build 19045.5435 (KB5050081) for Windows 10 version 22H2. You’ll need to join the Release Preview update channel to try out these features.

One of the standout updates is to the Windows sidebar calendar, which now displays the weather forecast and upcoming holidays and events.

Additionally, Outlook has taken over as the default email app, replacing the Windows Mail app. Microsoft noted: “A new app icon will appear in the Start menu. If you had the old email app pinned to your taskbar, the new icon will replace it automatically.”

Aside from these updates, Microsoft has also addressed some bugs. For example, they’ve fixed an issue where the Snipping Tool would malfunction when using the Windows + Shift + S shortcut while the Narrator was active.

Microsoft hasn’t announced an official release date for the final version of Windows 10 22H2.

Windows 10 will end support soon.

The updated calendar and other features are introduced just months ahead of Windows 10’s official end of support, scheduled for October 2025.

After this date, Microsoft will no longer release updates for Windows 10, including critical security patches and fixes for potential issues that could affect the system’s functionality.

To stay protected and ensure a smooth experience, upgrading your computer to Windows 11 is highly recommended.
